holy_butt1080 asked:

About a year ago I purchased a domain name from Dotster, and I’ve been super dissatisfied with them ever since. Now that the domain seems to be expired (it’s not showing up under my account name), I want to delete the account. However, I can’t find any direction as to how to do that.

Can anyone help me out here?? I really don’t want them to have my personal information, especially now that I have no need of their services.

What expiring domain names do people register?

I want a domain name that’s expiring in the next few days but I don’t want to pay ridiculous backorder fees. The domain was free until a little more than a year ago and a student from China used it as a portfolio for about 6 months and then it was left empty until it expired. Now that the old owner doesn’t seem like a threat what kind of domains do people mass register just to resell? The one I want has no nouns in it and has a hyphen. It also doesn’t resemble any known abbreviations so what do you think the chances are it won’t get snatched up? Also, about what time on the deleted day are domains released?
I didn’t mean the domain has no nouns I meant no words found in the dictionary (nouns, verbs, pronouns, anything).

My BlueHost account expires in a few weeks, and I want it back, but not right away. How long until the domain name is listed as available after it gets canceled?

actually, i guess it’s not the domain name itself i’m concerned about. it’s my account with yahoo/ geocities. i signed up about a year ago, and have paid for a year’s worth, but haven’t received any notice about what i should do to keep it going…

Just posted a question, but needed to add info..

Ok, I want to create a fan site for an actress and the .com domain expired on March 6, 2008. I did a “who is” search and found the owner lives in japan (and he never even created a site, just bought the domain name). He’s had the name since 2000. But it shows it wasn’t renewed. It shows on “WhoIs” that the domain expired on March 6, but it still isn’t available to register.

Ok, so what are my options right now? It’s almost been 30 days since the domain name expired. There is absolutely no website up now, it’s just an ad and it does say
“This Domain May Be For Sale” with an email address to write to:
buyyourdomainnamenow@gmail.com

I don’t really want to write to that email address yet in case it IS the owner and they renew the domain if they see someone is interested. I’ve tried to register the domain at GoDaddy.com and other places, but it’s not available. But like I said, at WhoIs it shows they didn’t renew.

Okay, I’m really not a techi or anything of the sort.
So I’m going to sound rather stupid …

erm, last nov I really didn’t know better and bought a hosting plan from yahoo which included a .com address… now the bills are really expensive and I was thinking of moving my host to godaddy.com but my domain name hasn’t expired until the end november of this year …. So I thought, to save money, I could just pay the $9.99/year to have yahoo keep the domain name and host thru godaddy (who’s month hosting is $3.99 compared to yahoo’s $6.99)…. is this possible ? or will the link get screwed up or something ? How should I go about doing this ?

Should I just wait it out till november ? and start from scratch? I mean my domain name won’t expire till november and I really need “that” particular name ….
erm , I don’t understand what you mean …
(sorry I’m really thick with net stuff …O___O)

so, I buy the domain name from yahoo and buy a hosting account from godaddy …
And from go daddy I have to change the url ??? erm … how is that ???
