My domain name is set to expire in a few months and I am seeing if I can transfer it to someone cheaper. I don’t need any special features and anyone who offers low prices for multi-year registrations would be nice.

My domain name was due for renewal on 19th August this year, and I have been having some problems with the hosting company to change my account, so I am going to put my web site with another company, however I would still like my original domain name, but I would need to move that as well. I have been advised that the best way would be to let the name lapse and then in a month or so re register it, I have also been advised that as the renewal date has passed it is not possible to transfer the domain name. What is the next move?

Hi. I am interested in a domain name – but it is taken already and expires early 2009. I wanted to know if anyone knew any good websites to where you can backorder domain names. And if so, is it a guarantee if say the person who has the domain name right now, if he/she doesn’t renew it next year, will I get that domain name if I place a backorder now? Or is it just like a lottery where anyone who places a backorder can get that domain name?

I want to buy a domain that is expiring. Is it a good idea to make an offer?

I’ve seen some good domain names that are registered already, but there is no webpage, just a holder. Some have been registered for a while
I tried Snapnames, but it seems the owners renew before the domain expires.
Should I just email the owner? Then how do we make the exchange if they agree? How do I know how much to offer?

woke up this morning to see that the website of the organisation I manage was taken over by a new page?!!! how come?? None of the pages on our domain work any longer…Our domain name has not expired, even.
