A ‘friend” offered to give me her old domain that she had parked and also build me a website, all I had to do was pay a monthly hosting fee of $26.00. A few months later she mentioned that she had “forgotten” to transfer the domain & would do in in a few weeks when hers expired, that was one year ago.

A few months after the site went live, I discovered that she had linked my site to her Multilevel Marketing sites which I DO NOT want associated with our site. Now that I have called her on the carpet, she won’t return calls or e-mails. I have limited acces to my current site & she has managed to lock me out of most of it.

I now have registered my own domain name and would like to use the content from my exisitng site on the new one while I create a completely new site. Is there a way to copy the content into a Wysiwyg editor & then upload it to my host site?

Please be kind with your answers, I have spent enough time beating myself up already.

Okay I thought of this name “Romantique Interiors” 5 years ago,and even bought a webdomain that since expired. Well, I was doing a search on it and I found 1 company that now is using that name, and they bought my old domain I let go.

I searched the trademark office, and no one has registered this name, so if I purchase a trade mark will I be able to tell them “this is my name”?

i could not pay even after warnings from yahoo cos i did not have access to e-main for sometime. but now need to re-register it.

Basically, I dropped the ball and my domain name expired. It appears a Japanese person or company quickly bought it up, because the entire website is in Japanese now.

Of course, I don’t speak Japanese.

I really want this domain back for my personal business. I would be willing to buy it, but I don’t want to spend a fortune. Besides, I think it’s a little sleazy to charge me a lot to buy back my own website.

What could or should I do? And is there any kind of internet laws set up to protect me if this gets ugly?

The first clue is that the glossy pets mag’s website apparently has been allowed to expire and is registered to another company. The site (Thenydog.com) appears now, run over with generic pets text-ads and an annoying popup window.

(Sister publication The Hollywood Dog’s website remains intact, though the events listings haven’t been updated since May.)

A whois search on the domain name shows that “thenydog.com” was registered to a company called Simply Named on June 18. So it hasn’t belonged to the actual magazine for almost two months now!
