A domain name I want is set to expire?

It seems that the person who has it now is not using it at all. He signed up for it on the 7th of April 2006, and has not updated it since. Now, what I want to know is how long do I have to wait until I can claim it and use it?

    Even after it expires, there is still a “redemption” period.

    If the owner lets it expire, you can try to catch it at a drop-catcher such as pool.com, afternic.com, snapnames.com, etc. Check pool.com and see if it’s pending deletion. If not, he may have registered it for multiple years.
