A domain name I’m very interested in is about to expire and I would like to register it myself. The domain name is registered through Network Solutions and I’ve dealt with them in the past for registering other domain names. They’re a tad pricey but the service has been good when I’ve needed it. The contact information is privacy-locked so I can’t contact the registrant directly. Network Solutions offers their “Certified Offer Services” but I don’t know anything about it. I’m guessing it’s primary function is for when one wants to buy a domain from the current registrant.
In this case, it appears that the registrant is not going to renew. The domain technically has already expired but I believe they don’t allow it to be registered by someone else for 30 days. So what’s the best strategy for getting it?
Thanks
I registered 2 domain names with my previous web hosting company and am now planning to migrate to another new registrar, as well as a new hosting company.
The problem I’m facing now is that this hosting company is not cooperating to give me the AUTH Code for me to do the transfer. I had previously registered these 2 domains with this hosting company who is an Enom reseller.
My domain is expiring in 1 month’s time.
I have written many emails to this hosting company without success. Any suggestion what course of action I can take now? Can I take my case to enom?
Just posted a question, but needed to add info..
Ok, I want to create a fan site for an actress and the .com domain expired on March 6, 2008. I did a “who is” search and found the owner lives in japan (and he never even created a site, just bought the domain name). He’s had the name since 2000. But it shows it wasn’t renewed. It shows on “WhoIs” that the domain expired on March 6, but it still isn’t available to register.
Ok, so what are my options right now? It’s almost been 30 days since the domain name expired. There is absolutely no website up now, it’s just an ad and it does say
“This Domain May Be For Sale” with an email address to write to:
buyyourdomainnamenow@gmail.com
I don’t really want to write to that email address yet in case it IS the owner and they renew the domain if they see someone is interested. I’ve tried to register the domain at GoDaddy.com and other places, but it’s not available. But like I said, at WhoIs it shows they didn’t renew.
When you buy a domain name do they send you the name or do you basically buy the site and flip the site like a house and do what every you want with the site.

I don’t think this is an email address for the owner, but I have no idea who this email address goes to. I’m afraid if I send an email, the owner may see someone is interested and renew it.
How can I buy an expired domain? I don’t want to make an offer to the owner if they haven’t even renewed the domain.
