How long does it take for a GoDaddy domain name to be “released?”?

Dr. Murmur! asked:

I have no idea what the technical term for it is, but when would an expired domain name become available for the taking?

The website itself started to pend deletion/renewal on september 2nd. Now, instead of saying “X is pending renewal or deletion,” it says “Welcome to X.” Also, on the bottom of the page, it says “This webpage is parked free.”

I guess my next question would be whether or not the original owner of the website renewed it. Because honestly, that would **** because I had my heart set on that name and there’s no way in hell I’m paying $80 to get it. :/

Gah. I’m lost, can someone please help me?

How do I get the EPP code of a site hosted by Godaddy?

tinus42 asked:

To transfer a domain name from Godaddy you need an EPP code (Authorization code) but in Domain manager you can only send it by e-mail to the Administrative Contact (which is Godaddy’s subsidiary DomainsByProxy). I can’t login to DomainsByProxy because I don’t have login details and the Godaddy account details aren’t accepted. So I’m in a limbo here and have no choice to let the domain names expire (since I’m not going to renew with those cretins).

Isn’t there an arbitration possible at ICANN. Surely they are somehow legally obliged to provide ME with the transfer code and not only their wholly owned subsidiary?
This article finally resolved my question:

Kudos to them! :-)

Domain Name Registration Question?

steakfri_98 asked:

I want to purchase a specific domain, and it says it’s taken. However, when I click on “Get Info” (I’m using godaddy.com), it says the following…

Created on: 08-May-08
Expires on: 08-May-11

…which means it expired yesterday at midnight (AZ time because godaddy is located in Scottsdale, AZ)… So, why is it still showing as “Taken”… if it’s already expired?

Does anyone know about these types of things?

(And no… I won’t be releasing the domain I’m interested in)

Thanks,

Alpha asked:

When can I buy it? On the exact expiration date? If so what timezone? Do I have to get in queue for it? Can any registrar sell it?
I tried to buy it from the owners several years ago and didn’t have the money at the time. It is unused and now they do not respond to my emails.
So 60 or 65 days after the expiration date?

myminilife.com doesn’t work for me?

DreaminGirl asked:

whenever I go to myminilife.com this message comes up:
“You are seeing this page because the current domain is not configured in the current set of name servers or your domain is being parked. This is usually just a temporary error while the domain is being added. Once the domain is configured this page will expire and your correct site will be shown.

If your system administrator is having you use the wrong resolving name servers you will want to notify them of this mistake right away.
If you are looking for free resolving name servers (for desktop and personal computers) we suggest you use the free service at Resolving Name Server.”

It use to always work.. can someone help me fix this ??

Best way to backorder a domain name?

Lazyboy asked:

There is a domain that I want to buy that is expiring next month.

The domain registrar is currently a no-name domain seller. It looks like the person is not going to renew it. Should I backorder it through the no-name registrar (will they have first dibs or something?) or should I go through bigger names like pool.com or enom

My domain name has expired but my details are still on Whois?

haadyagob asked:

I paid my subscription 2 weeks after it expired and now some anonymous person is using it. My domain provider won’t answer my letters or emails. Should I just give up on this and just register a new domain name and cut my losses?
http://domains.whois.com still shows MY details as domain owner. Other WHOIS sites says someone else. Confused!

hi asked:

Status: PENDING DELETE RESTORABLE
This is the status for a domain name that I like (not a TLD). However, the last updated date is a few days after the expiration date (Feb 2011). Will this domain expire, or has the owner already renewed it?
