Domain name expiring? How do I know?

expired domain names
Mustard Jones asked:

How can I find out if a domain name I am interested in is going to expire any time soon? I know the registrar… what should i be looking for on the registrar’s site, or do I need to call them and inquire?

    1) Go to this website:

    2) Insert your domain name into this field:
    WHOIS Lookup
Get contact info for a domain/IP

    3) Click the little arrow so search.

    4) Read through the results until you find the date registered and date expired. Use this tool for any website, its free. It tells you everything about the domain name, the owner’s name, address, ect.

Type it into WHOIS and it will tell you when it expires.

Its easy, you need to do a ‘whois’ lookup

Should give details on expiry, in order to actually register the domain thats a different story as the current owner has a set number of days they can have priority on it ( i forget the number)

Just because a domain name is expiring, doesn’t mean you might be able to get it. The owner of the domain might coose to renew.

If it is a very desirable domain name I doubt whether it will be allowed to expire but possibly it has been bought merely to resell at a profit so you could approach the domain holder yourself. Or, go onto 123 or better still, Nominet, or similar site, express interest and put your name down as being interested in the event that it becomes available so they will contact you.

If you really want the name that badly, if you go onto Nominet you can get the contact details of the owner to approach directly.

    Hello,

You can find out information about a domain name registration such as expiration dates by doing what is called a “who-is” lookup. Try this site:
