I had a domain name that I let expire, how can I get it back?

expired domain names
JoJo asked:

I tried to apply for it again and the results were: already taken. I’m not sure if someone else has it, or if it’s because I already had it. HELP ME!

Start over again! Go to a domain name seller (my personal favorite is GoDaddy.com because the service is great and the prices are the lowest available). Type in the domain name and if it is still available, it’s your for $8.95.

If it just expired within the past 30 days, whomever was handling your domain registration may still be holding it for you. You should contact them right away. If they are still holding it, there is probably an extra charge at this point to reactivate it.

If it expired longer than 30 days ago, but it appears to be unavailable, it may have been picked up by someone else. Do a “whois” search like this one:
    =

(all the registrars have a whois search). This will help you find who currently is listed as the owner.

    Good luck!
