If I am the WHOIS contact for a doman, am I the owner of the name?

My registrar says the domain expired in January and wants to charge me $200 to reclaim it. But WHOIS lists me in all three places, and says that domain is registered until January 2008.

well, its one of two things

either, they say that and hope you’ll register it for the first time :p

or the credit/consumer records they are using to contact you are flawed, and its registered to some1 with the same name, but not you

uh that registering party is full of crap.

where did you register this? you own it if you pay for it.

always register the domains at network solutions…. anywhere’s else is questionable.
