Is this possible in domain name?

expired domain names
David asked:

Hi, I have two websites hosted by two different web hosting company.

www.myWebsite1.com
www.myWebsite2.com (hosting plan expired)

The hosting plan of website2 is expired and since very few people go to that website, I didn’t renew it and would like to put all web pages in the same server with the website1. I also know that only the hosting plan for website2 has expired, its domain name has not expired yet.

My friend tells me to create a subdomain in website1 and put all pages in it, so users can go to website2 by entering

myWebsite2.myWebsite1.com

I tried and it works, but this url doesn’t look quite good, I want users to be totally unaware of this change, this means users will not see any myWebsite1.com wording in the address bar of the browser.

Is this possible, given that myWebsite2.com domain name can still be used?

If not, any suggestions for me?

Many many thanks to you all.

You can create a re-direct for website 2 that goes just about anywhere in website 1 that you want it to.

Yes it’s totally possible but you didn’t tell what hosting company hosts your Check with them do they allow multiple domain hosting. This is what you need. This way you can host all your sites with just one hosting account (depending of course on your total number of visitors).

So if your host allows that, how do you do it?

    1. Add a new domain name and folder like: myWebsite2.com to your hosts control panel
    2. Create a subfolder with the same name under you root folder
    3. Since you want to keep your domain name you just need to change its domain name servers to your new host like:
    ns1.yournewhost.com
    ns2.yournewhost.com
    ns3.yournewhost.com
    and that’s it.
Now your sites will be totally separate websites (like they’re hosted on two separate accounts)

P.S. I recommend you to transfer that domain or even both of them to some 3rd part domain registrar like Godaddy or Namecheap, as that will make any future switching of hosts a lot easier.

P.P.S. If your new host doesn’t support multiple domain hosting you have to switch hosts.

    I recommend one of these:

Powweb is on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.
