The domain name is about to expire, how long do I have to wait to buy it?

expired domain names
JustRish asked:

It’s not owned by any company. It seems someone has bought it to make profit out of it and I am hoping he’ll let go of it when it expires in April 07. So when it does expire, how long do I have to wait until I can buy it?

most likley if they want it they would buy it again about a week before when the domain name company sends him/her an email saying its only got a couple of months to go

Most likely the domain name will NOT be available for resgitration once it expires. Good domain name registrars offer a “waiting period” which can be a month or 3 months because they release the domain name to the public again.
    I suggest you:
    1. contact the present owners and propose your offer
    2. contact the domain name registrar once the domain expires and express your interests in the name
    3. Check the domain each day till its available

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Did you put a backorder through snapnames/pool etc. If it is a good domain somebody else might want it.
