What are the/are there any legal ramifications for?

expired domain names
impressionableadolescent asked:

someone who runs a website with an expired doman license? Does that make sense? Godaddy.com can provide domain names and some douchebag is still running one that expired over a year ago. Would his page even load up? Are there ways to exploit the system and run a website with an expired license? Is this misdemeanor theft?

you can buy the domain if it’s available

If the person bought a term ownership of the domain and its expired they no longer OWN it. they can still use it if no one makes a fuss. but Go to the site contact them and try and buy the licence to it. then its yours and you can fuss if they try and use it.

If your question ment that if you use it without paying could the expired person come back at you for it? well then yes they could complain… they couldn’t do anything unless they renewed their licence then they could force you down.
