What’s the best way to get a domain name once it becomes available?

There is a domain that is about to expire next month. There is no active site and the email address is not responding. The name was registered nearly ten years ago.

What should I do to make sure that I get first in line to get that domain?

    many times they go to auction. I bought one through snapnames before.

    If you really want that domain you can backorder it. Go to and type the domain into the search box. It will come up and tell you it’s not available but you can select backorder. I think it costs a little more money but would be worth it if you really want the domain.
