Goeran1 asked:
I would like to secure a specific domain name which will expire in about 3-4 months. (The owner of the domain just steals my traffic and uses it as a spam/adlink site.)
Which is the best/most secure way to buy this domain?
Thanks a lot for your help!
p.s.: The domain name would be very important for my website!

Just because it is set to expire doesn’t mean they won’t renew it..
You could write and offer to buy the domain name..I’d rate this as your best shot but you could wait and see if they don’t renew the name..
Names can’t be transferred if they are within 60 days of expiration.
I think the name isn’t available to reregister for 60 days after it has expired..Fairly sure of time frame but it is some time for sure..
Thats how I got one of my domain names..
If you don’t want to buy the domain name from the cybersquatter, your only option is to hope they let it expire. If it expires, you can snap it up through a backorder, or through a pre-release auction (depending on the domain’s registrar).
See below for a pretty good article describing how you would go about snapping it up if it expires:
If you think it’s going to expire you can backorder it at That’s probably the best way to secure it if it expires.
Some registars offer backordering services. Check out a few before you buy, but I recommend They provide backordering and are good (aggressive) at it and they dont cost a lot.
